How low can you go?...on the 5+volt line that is.

My motherboard has gone from stable at 10x146MHz 1.7volts, to unstable at any overclocked speed above 137MHz and default+ cpu core voltage. I'v tried 3 different power supplies, 2 different Vid cards, and a different stick of ram.

The 5+ volt line reported by the Smartgardian monitoring software reads 4.83volts while system is at idle. This is at default bus speed and core voltage. If I have the monitoring software running while running a SiSoft Sandra test in the background, i've seen the 5+ go as low as 4.73volts.

When measured at the connector of the PSU/motherboard with commercial grade Volt-Ohm meters, the 5+ line might drop to 4.98+volts at the same time as the hardware monitoring shows a 4.73 volt reading. At idle the 5+ is usually at about 5.05+ volts.

I'm thinking the motherboard has a bad regulator on the 5+ line. I beleive that even new the 5+ used to read at least 4.89volts when overclocked, and now is 4.83volts default speeds.

The system is totally stable at default to 136MHz overclock. What do you think?

Anyone want to sell me a motherboard?🙂

4.8 is about the minimum I would run with. I've never had a system that's completely stable running an xp or P4 above 137 fsb.
