How low can I go w/ a Pelt and Waterblock

I am new to this board and I did'nt search around for the answer to my question, so if this has been discussed before you have my apologies.

I am currently running a watercooled C2 566 at 897/105 @ 1.8VDC on an ABIT BF6 w/ 128 MB PC100 generic SDRAM and A Geforce SDR.

My waterblock is a simple aluminum one with 3/8 in. fittings, my system is a vented sump design, I use ice to cool my coolant. Very simple, leak free system.

I have the feeling I can get my C2 to run faster, it boots a 935/110 but wont run Q3 or any game for that matter. I want to add a Peltier for below 0 celcius temperatures.

My CPU temp at idle is about 10-15 C with fresh ice, if I add a peltier( say 60-80 watt ) can I expect to see temps around -15 - 0 Celcius.

Is it possible that these low temps could help my Celery to run stable at 900MHZ +.

Any thought would be appreciated

Are you sure your ram might not be flakey, its always a possibility with generic. Without knowing the effieciency of your watercooler, i cant speculate as to how much temperature drop you will get with a peltier, as they are only as good as the watercooler taking its heat away. You wont really notice any real difference between running at 100 vs 110 fsb on the celery setup IMHO

I have considered the RAM as a probable deterent to higher FSB speeds and I plan on investing in some quality PC133 in the future.

Really my question is: Has anyone else gotten subzero temperatures with a peltier and waterblock combination. My watercooling system is more than capable of removing the heat generated by a peltier.

Subzero ºC are possible with a nice peltier system. We built one for kicks in our advanced physics lab at school, We used 2 80 watt peltiers running at 14V not the 12V in computers, we had a problem with condensation at first, but that was solved by sealing the cpu and peltier/waterblock setup (best results were with an icewater bath) One problem with subzero temps with the coppermine cpus is that they are very fragile with some people cracking them under the thermal stress from the temperature changes that come from within.
good luck

First, you should try more voltage. 1.8? My rig runs, at idle at -2F. Under full load it gets up to 40F or so. It runs 24/7 and is very stable. Sealing agains condensation is a big problem. A qualtity slocket is advisable. Let me know if you need any more specifics.
