I am going to add a third case fan to my case, and it will either be a 60 CFM sunon 120 with a 35 db rating, or the 120 90 cfm with a 44 db rating. Anyone have any expierence with this. Will it be anoying loud once installed inside the case?

44 db is pretty loud. The Delta 'Black Label' is about 46.5 db. Though i've never heard this fan myself, others say it is very loud and some say even unbearable. With a 120mm fan though, the noise will not be as high pitched, thereby making the noise 'seem' softer. Either way, its pretty loud.

Too loud dude. trust me. I am not bothered by much but the delta, which is not far off that, is intolerable.

Ok, so I should go with the 33 db case fan. I was playing on going with the 46 db delta fan (63 CFM) for on top of the MC462. Is that going to be to loud, with it enclosed in the case,a nd sitting under a desk?

Rustling leaves on a tree are about 10db
Adult Human Whisper is about 20db
Normal conversation (2ppl) is about 60db
Vacuum Cleaners are about 80db
An average walkman at max is 100db
Threshold of pain is about 130db
Military jet take off is about 140db
Instant perferation of the ear drum occurs at 160db

44db would annoy you to death, especially if it's your third fan for that case. since you want a 120mm fan, i'd go for a panaflow L1A 120mm it has a db rating around ~28. while it won't be as high of an output you will appreciate not having a 44db fan and a panaflow L1A 120mm with two other case fans should be more than enough cfm. 35db when combined with two others might still buzz too loudly. for the comment on the bigger fans (like 120mm's) seemingly being quieter because it's more of airflow noise instead of a whine, trust me lower db is better. i have a lite-on fs020 from coolcases with three 120mm L1A's and sometimes consider searching for lower than a db rating of 28.

When the noise levels get to 84db hearing protections is required, {lawn mower}. A jet engine about 120 db. 44db is getting there.

Not Quite. The intensity of 84 Db is about 8200 times that of 44. But I catch your drift that it will be loud (everyones drift).

Anyone else want to chime in?

You?ll probably find that case fans don?t do much for reducing heat in your computer. If you live where it?s hot just turn the AC down.

As far as the noise level, it may not be a factor while you play games or cruse the web with MP3 basting away. But if you leave the computer running at night it might keep you awake. Or if the computer is in a room were you read.

On the other hand you may find fan noise soothing like rain on a tin roof.
