How loud is your enclosure fan?

Hi all,

I'm thinking about getting a zt3000 hp laptop and actually selling my PC. (Which will have a 9500pro going up for grabs btw 😉 )
But I have some concerns.

I love quiet computers. My Dell is silent and I love it. But if I go enclosure w/ the harddrives and the fan, is it gonna make it significantly louder?
Also, I've been reading that if I ever bought a new HD, that I would have to partition it in a PC before putting it in an enclosure. Man that's a bummer if I get rid of my PC. Is there any way around that?

I have partioned new hard drives from enclosures. There's no limit to doing that from your laptop, assuming you are running xp pro?
 
you can partition in the enclosure. Windows doesn't care one way or the other. my enclosure is the loudest part of my rig. 🙁 i put tape over some of the fan holes to make it a little quieter, but it's still louder than my computer.
 
there aren't enclosures with quiet fans? I would think that such fans exist if the ones in my PC are so silent... =/
