Hello all,

I am getting an ABIT KT7A with Compuwiz 1GHZ T-Bird and Ram to rebuild my system. I need to get a HSF. I have heard that the GlobalWin FOP32-1 is a good one but loud. I have my computer in the same room as the TV. Just wondering how loud is it?

Also, any other HSF suggestions are welcome.

It's louder than many but it's tolerable in my opinion. If you watch TV at the volume I do (which of course is louder than my wife cares for :)) then you will not be able to hear the PC at all. Also, it's a good excuse to use for your signficant other for watching your movies nice and loud to drown out the PC fan!! :)

Hey Stoneface, if you are really worried about noise a Taisol CGK 742092 may be the hsf for you. Check out this site to hear the relative difference in noise. Personally, I'm using an Alpha Pal6035 with a 37db ADDA fan and it's the loudest thing in my box.

Sad, that is a COOL site! Thanks
I never cease to be amazed by the stuff on the Net!
Any thoughts on the HSF that comes with the retail version of the 1GHz T-Bird? I assume that it would not suffice for overclocking.

I started using this heatsink recently and although it is much louder than my Golden Orb, it is not prohibitively loud. I can hear it above all the other noise. I can go to sleep with it on in the same room, but others might not be able to do that. I would go ahead and get it, it is a good heatsink and was easy to put on my FC-PGA.
