How loud is loud?

I know this question is very subjective, but I'm looking into getting 3-4 28 db fans for a case, and just wanted to know if others have the same and how loud it would be. I'm not looking for silent computer, but something that doesn't sound like jets taking off when it starts up would be nice.

Before reading the thread I was going to say I wouldn't like anything over 30 dBA even though it's not extremely loud. 28dBA ought to be fine as long as you're not expecting super quiet. I sorta miss my old PII 300 with only the PSU fan & a 60mm fan running at 7v

had three 27 dba 92mm still was not as quiet as you think changed to 3 80mm 21dba change power supply as well "it can be loader than fans also put 80mm 30dba fan on heat sink nice and quiet now. Also think about putting some sound proofing on the sides front and top.

28db is real quiet. I have three 80mm 2900RPM fans in my system and it's dead quiet. I replaced the 80mm Smart Fan that came with my Volcano 7 (since it got to 4400RPM) with a 2900RPM fan and I can't hear my case above my refridgerator.
