How Loud is Loud?

I've been looking at 92mm Fans for a heatsink for a little while now. I know there is a personal preference as far as loudness goes, but is there someplace I can go to download sound files of various different dB fans and compare them? Thanks

I not sure where, but I have seen sound files on some sites that test HSF packages. Try googling on- fan sound files -to see if anything pops up. I know I've seen some out there - check on dansdata.com .

go to frostytech.com. Not only do they have archives/links of other sites fan and heatsink reviews, i think they also have audio recording of cooling solutions that they test

I'm not sure you'll get what you are looking for. I have 5 panaflo L1a fans and they are silent....can't hear them. In conjunction with a seasonic PSU, the only thing I hear now are the drives. You want a sound file for them? I don't have one but it's a very high pitched sound, not too loud but noticeable.

Good luck,

30dB> loud

But as far as noise goes you can't go wrong with Panaflo L1As. They are very excellent fans.

I think my Panaflo L1as are too loud unless I turn them down to 5v...

>40db is kinda loud for me.

First rig(I called it the Black Beast, friends called it the Vornado):

CPU 60mm Black label Delta
Case had 3x 80mm fans and 1x 92mm Delta

Overall not that quiet but got used to it.

Current rig(I call it the Silver Monkey, friends call it the Turbine):

CPU same 92mm Delta from the first case
1x 34db 120mm intake, 1x ~45db 120mm outtake

Both systems were/are on 24hrs a day and within 7ft of where I sleep. I've gotten so used to them that I can't sleep when they are off and if one of the temp controlled fans changes speeds I'll wake up. Weird. :D
