How loud are delta fans really in an actual case

I am thinking about outfitting my case (addtronics 7986a or W8500) w delta fans, since I am a heavy overclocker. I don't like too much noise, but I don't need a whisper quiet pc either.
My questions are:
1) are the overclocked delta fans (80 and 92mm) that put out more than 80cfm from sidewinder.com and 1coolpc really that loud when put in a case, that will be under a heavy desk?
2) Would a busbay or DigitalDoc5 type device be a good idea if noise could be an issue?
3) Do deltas as hsfs really make that much noise, given that they are fully inside the case?
4) Where is the best place to buy deltas, or a good performing, less noisy alternative?
Thanks!

Dont know about the the 80mm and 92mm ones, but I have a 38cfm 60mm on my sk6 and its not really that loud. Does a great job, I have been boasting my 40c full load temps :D

I think people really went overboard with how loud the 60mm Delta fans are. I have one and with my case door on and the other 4 fans in the case (counting PS fan, not counting HD coolers) its really not that noticeable. I have it between my dresser and my computer desk on teh floor bout 2ft away from me. With the case off, yea its noticeable, but again its not even that loud. I can sleep fine iwth at night with nothing else making noise :) Even my parents dont think its loud, they think the house box fans are louder! But I'd say the 80mm-92mm fans are gonna be fairly loud :) I'd say they probably are like hairdryers

dundain: you must have a good case then. My 50 dollar case actually amplifies the sound and it's driving me nuts. I should be getting my 27cfm tommorow though.

It really depends, Delta makes a bunch of different types of fans. The only one I've actually heard in person is the 120mm Delta that moves about 130CFM of air. It's not too horrid, but I definitely wouldn't want it in my case. It sounds a lot like a hairdryer.

How loud??? Will I definatly notice it if I am playing a game/watching a DVD? Will a RPM controller help in those cases?

A lot of "loudness" really is "annoyingness" which is pretty subjective. I used the 60mm, 38cfm Delta for several months. After finding that I hated the high pitched whine as I walked down the steps to the basement where the system was, I started thinking about how I preferred quiet to the modest performance gain the Delta achieved.

Delta's are damn loud. Even at 7 volts they are much louder then other fans @ 7 volts.

You will begin to think it's not in the case anymore and right next to you. No joke, my friend had one in his case and while I was on the phone with him I could hear the Delta in the background, it was so loud that it sounded like it was right near the phone, not 10 ft away.

I've got a 38cfm 60mm Delta on my FOP38 and it is loud - so much so it drowns out the noise coming from THREE ADDA 80mm case fans!

I was seriously considering changing it to something quieter but the temps are so nice and the machine is running like a dream so I'd hate to do anything to mess that up!

If I were building a PC from scratch I would not put another Delta in there.

I also have a 38cfm delta fan, perched on top of a Thermoengine V6 jobbie...
If you have the choice, <don't> for the sake of your ears get one. the name 7500 RPM screamer is very appropriate, it sounds like a small jet engine taking off. I'm waiting for a 27cfm fan to arrive - I don't care if my load temps go up, it'll stop the headache at least :(
