Just what I was wondering. Is this project supposed to last a few weeks? A few months? A year or more?

It's unknown. There's a certain amount of stubs to check, but no one really knows how many nodes are in a stub, since it varies.:(

PS Bu the wisper number I'm hearing is only a couple of months :)

the only real problem i have it some of my herd is scattered across the country and the client verison is not supported by this version of ogr, so i am gonna be doing invalid blocks for the span of this thing unless i keep my proxy only doing rc5.....

I'm pretty sure OGR is a long-term project. OGR-24 shouldn't last long at all. However, as soon as OGR-24 is done it's on to OGR-25, and so on. I think that I heard once that the clients will support up to OGR-30. OGR could, in theory, go on indefinitely.

If I'm not mistaken, the newest version of the pproxy will tell all the out of date clients that OGR is NOT open for them.

So I believe you will only lose the blocks they do until you update your pproxy. Plus ofcourse the blocks (or stubs rather) that they are working on until they flush.
So all in all you the old clients will lose about a day or so of work.

To answer the main question, OGR is an exhaustion of possibilities. This would mean that each OGR contest will be 100% completed before the next commences. However, I do not know if D.net are taking this approach.

A Linux proxy should be out tomorrow. Usually, it only takes Dnet a day or so to get a Linux version out since it, and Win32 based pproxies are some of the most widely used.:)
