It would take me less time to walk the 25 miles one way to work than take public transit.

I use public trans every day, trip to work is about 30 min or a little more depending on my transfer. Should be less than that once they finish up some of the construction. Cost is $75/mo for an unlimited CTA pass.

Driving the same trip can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or more. Cost would include parking at $175/mo and city gas at $4.50/gal.

Hour and a half train.. prob about the same by car actually (new brunswick to hoboken nj).

Train is cheaper as my Volvo XC70 gets about 20 mpg and requires premium.

~30 minutes by car.
~1.5-2 hours by bus.

But I t/c twice a week and carpool 2-3 days, so I'm not too broke because of it.

It take me a little over 20 minutes to drive.
It take almost two hours by bus, plus another 15 minutes of walking to/from the stop to the office/home.

Am I the only one that has it MUCH easier taking public transit to work?

Seriously, I leave my house at 6:50 and sit down at my desk between 7:15 and 7:20 every day. It's a 7 minute drive to the park and ride, 15-20 minute ride down the HOV lane, and the bus drops me off at the front door of my building.

If I were to drive, I would hit traffic almost immediately after I passed the park and ride, I'd sit in a bumper to bumper parking lot in the non-HOV lane, have to make my way across 3 lanes of traffic after exiting the highway to turn left at a non-arrowed stop light, park at the nearest public parking lot where it is $18/day to park, and then walk 15 minutes up hill to my building.

Cost of driving: $18 + gas + time and aggravation
Cost of bus: Gas to the park and ride + FREE + 20 minutes as opposed to an hour

For me public transit would take ~30min each way and I can walk it in 20min. Driving only takes ~10 minutes thanks to traffic and stoplights.

5 minutes to drive
20 minutes to bike
1 hour to walk

and the only public transportation I can envision is if the Amish decided to start hauling people around in their buggies for a fee - probably about 25 minutes in that case.
otoh, my public transportation would be completely non-poluting, except for what I refer to as "Amish skid marks" (horse droppings on the road)

I walk to work. It's a 20 minute trip, so 40 minutes round trip. Cut that in half for biking in. I can't drive in as I don't have a parking pass, and if I did the walk from the parking lot would make the total commuting time longer than just walking. There is a bus stop right in front of my house, however, I'm sure it would take longer then biking/walking. So biking/walking it is.

15 minutes to drive, 25 by bus, but it seems that here in Tucson, smoking is mandatory at all bus stops, so I drive to avoid the asthma attacks.

I just started taking the bus, I save about $4 a day.

Car = 1 - 2 hrs depending on traffic
Bus = 1.25 hrs bus is allowed to use the highway shoulder and doesn't sit in traffic.

10 minutes by car (I calculated ~$2.50 day @ 1/2 gal gas - very high estimate)
1/2 hour by subway + 5-10 min walk. ($4 day)
1 hour by bus + 3 min walk. ($4 day)
