Currently my xbox has a 200GB HDD and it only has about 10GBs left and so I am planning on replacing it with a 500GB HDD and then putting the 200GB in my computer so here is what im planning on doing:

Put the 500GB in my computer FTP all the files on the 200GB to the 500GB then take the 200GB format it for my PC then transfer the files to the 200GB and formatting the 500GB for my xbox and then FTPing the files from the 200GB back to the 500GB (which is now in the xbox) so I am wondering how long it would take to FTP 200GBs through a standard Cat5 wire?

since your just doing it over a network, 40/50mb's isn't unrealistic, timewise it should take about an hour if you can get 50mbs, 200,000 / 50 / 60 = 66.6 mins

i don't have an xbox cause i hate the thing, but can you not just plug the two hd's into the computer and copy the 200gb over to the 500gb via the computer itself, rather than over the network? i doubt the xbox would use some proprietary format unless they are complete assholes but eh it is microsoft, ntfs would make more sense

Or, instead of FTP, you could use an external enclosure...FTPing that much is gonna take forever...
