Seems as though everyone loves to turn on Top Dogs once they reach dominance. How long do you think it will be before people start trashing Google? ;)

It'll be a while I think. When the time finally does come, people will be like "I use brand x search engine, its not garbage like google"... when brand x is powered by google.

Google is much more useful and precise than Yahoo, Infoseek, Lycos, Altavista, etc....basically any search engine I've ever used. If people want to be pussies about it and "turn" on it because it's popular then so be it, idiots.

It was my understanding that yahoo was powered by google they just dont advertise it any more. Although this may have ended by now..

It says at the bottom of the search page "Search Technology provided by Google."

Their use of capitalization is unusual. :D

I turned on them when I started getting pop up ads while searching on Google. Fork you Google!

Yahoo won't be powered by Google much longer; there was a thread about this recently.

There were a few reports of microsoft's interest in google, but it looks like it's not going to happen. Now the word on the street is IPO...investers are looking for the next Microsoft or Netscape. Google is the best out there for now, but I see no reason why they can't be knocked off their pedestal, especially if they get too big for their britches. I'll use it until something better comes along.

The second Google does something like put up an advertising banner on their main page, there will be scores of new threads started about how "Google s|_|xx0r!," or "Google has sold out to the man, long live (insert search engine name here)."

the problem with google is that people are figuring out how to make their page ranks higher.

Unless they screw it up by adding advertisements and more paid for listings, I think they will remain the preferred search engine. It really is the best.
