I'm with KnightBreed. My PII400 lasted for about 2 years, now it has migrated into a server (with another of its brothers). As for a reputable company with good prices, check out Monarch Computer. They're based about 10 minutes from my apartment and I've never had any problems with them. They pretest your cpu/mobo combo before shipping.

i have a feeling the ghz should last for a couple years, as currently the video cards are teh bottleneck in any 3d game at resolution of 1024x768 and higher...

so, worry about that currently awesome video card u may have (will purchase) and realize that it's gonna be a utter crap in a year...(and just crap in under a year)

I am hoping that my Athlon 800 lasts till Christmas or the first of 2002. If it gets slow I can always overclock it. :)

A gig and a Geoforce 2 is good for a while...until it is getting close to mainstream...over a year I'd imagine.
