How long will an 8800 GTS 640 MB last me?

In my experience when I buy bleeding edge video cards they tend to last a lot longer than mid range cards.

I got my 6600GT when it just came out, and it lasted me more than 3 years. Sure, I couldn't play at max res, max gfx, etc. But I could play FEAR, Medieval TW II, Dark Messiah, C&C3 and Doom3 no problem. That is a pretty impressive performance IMO, when the above games are really designed for faster video cards.

As long as you don't plan to play everything at max res with max gfx the 8800GTS should last you for the next 3 years. I believe that it will take a lot longer for DX10 games to take off than most people think. By far not everyone wants Vista, so game companies and Microsoft will have to deal with hat whether they like it or not.

PS: Yes, I am biased because I myself have the 8800GTS and I'd like it to last as long as possible since I wont be able to afford a new card anytime soon.
