How long up to does USPS Media Mail take???

i ordered something from a *someone* and was wondering how long it would take b4 i should get an item?

DeepDiscountDVD sent my Simpson's DVDs via media mail on Thursday and they got here on Saturday. Generally, media mail takes 5-10 days.
 
I ordered a textbook from someone on Half.com on August 28th with media mail. Half gives the seller one day to ship the item after it is confirmed. So....

Date confirmed: August 29th
Estimated Arrival Date:
September 9, 2002 to September 30, 2002

I actually got the book on the 14th, but I've heard cases that took about three weeks or more.
 
I would NEVER send anything via Media mail unless it was just a state or two over. NOTHING across the country.
 
My wife publishes books and we ship them out media rate all the time. Our average delivery time is 8 working days (Monday through Saturday). We ship from Oregon to places all over the US. A few weeks ago I sent 7 large and heavy boxes to an address in New Mexico. It took them 13 days to get there. By the same token, I have sent smaller shipments to the east coast and it takes 5-6 days. It seems to be dependant on the size/weight of the box. Media is terribly slow but due to new postal regulations is the only affordable way to ship things like books.
