How long to wait before installing Android 5 on my Nexus 5?

I did a quick google and found a news article about a critical problem with the update and Nexus devices (can't send SMSs), so I guess I'm not installing it right now, but aside from this problem, how long would you wait (to try and ensure you don't get caught out by a problem like the one described)?

I would wait for about ten minutes. Well, maaaybe seven.

I'm not kidding, especially if this 'critical' problem is about sending SMS (which I have zero care in the world). That's the amount of time I would wait if my phone is getting a Lollipop update (well, any update, for that matter).

Been using Lollipop since Sunday on my Nexus 4. Everything has worked without bugs including SMS messaging which I use multiple times a day.

I put Android 5.0 on my Nexus 5. I haven't noticed any critical problems, though I don't use this phone everyday. I just tested SMS (I use Hangouts) and found no issues texting.

However I'm also not quiet feeling like this is the biggest Android update people are saying it is. Feels mostly cosmetic to me.

JB had project butter (smoother/ less lag), KK had project svelte (lower resource), those are massively noticeable since you "see" window animations all the time

L has project volta, which is supposed to help on battery life... so far, users have bugs that might have hidden this improvement (wifi/data bugs)

i'm still waiting for xposed to be available on L before flashing...

Thats the thing though- the cosmetic differences are across the board! Even the copy paste handles look different! I don't know what more we can expect- this isn't a Gingerbread to ICS jump. Android is a much more mature OS now, with a much bigger install base.

On the All About Android podcast it was mentioned that some of the coolest stuff in Lollipop hasn't hit yet because they are basically development hooks apps aren't using yet. The future is bright on that front.

Been running Lollipop on Nexus 5 with no issues. However I did do a total phone reset from the bootloader and installed the factory images direct from Google. Link and instructions can be found in the Lollipop thread. If you are interested in doing the same, backup using Helium.

Your Nexus 5 is a fantastic phone. Yes it's build isn't perfect, but everything else to a your modder is absolutely perfectly done.

That's a really cool idea / method of handling performance improvements, I'd like to read more about this.

Haven't had any problem with my N5, maybe there were problems with preview builds but haven't heard of any widespread issues with the release.
