how long to take subway

i hope not...gonna be taking mta/subway (from the bronx) to jfk next week to save on cab fare. i was reading about airtrain and you can hop on the airtrain then LIRR and get into Penn station inf 40 min or so for ~$12

depends, there is a FLAT taxi fair for 35 not including toll & tips, there are those TC cabs around but they rip you off, better wait for yellow.. it may take anywhere from 45 min to 2 hours depending on traffic from JFK and traffic in the city, and yeah air train seems to be fast during rush hour

Flat taxi rate from JFK is $45, actually.

shows you how long i haven't taken taxi.. either that or my eye sight is really bad

4-6 hours for me,
I have to drive 147 miles to NY city first.
drive your car to NY and then spend $25 to park it. 🙁
too bad Amtrak is so expensive.

I could walk for 20-30 mins to the local Amtrak station,or take a cab,or park my car there,LOL.

They keep increasing it. Normal taxi fare has literally doubled since I moved to NY 6 years ago. And the airport rate has gone from $30 to $45, with an even higher special rate for Newark now. The $45 is just stupid because even with rush hour traffic, that is more than it would cost to just run on the meter.

If I'm not mistaken there is a $13 shuttle between JFK and LaGuardia. After LaGuardia and the airtrain it is a short ride to midtown on the #7.

If you take the delta super shuttle it's a lot cheaper, and not much longer than the cab ride. Probably around $20 depending what zip code.

The thing is you have to transfer from the subway to the AirTrain, which, IIRC, costs another $5. Easiest advice is to take a cab, more expensive but much faster too.

just wondering.

isn't JFK technically in queens?

just take the airtrain to the lirr, and then the E train into midtown
5 bucks airtrain, and then $2 metrocard. wont take you more than an hour....

if you take the LIRR from jamaica, it'll take even less time...

call car service (not taxi)... and see how much they charge. I know it was $35 from Queens to LI (nassau) so it'd be about the same distance for you.
