How long to DVD-R's last if treated well?

I use massive amounts of DVD-R's for backing up files and burning TV shows to from my DVD Recorder.

I use good DVD's like Memorex and Verbatim(There good right?).

I then put them in a slim case and they get used once and a while.

Are DVD's a good file backup solution? From what I have read they last 20-30 years and can even go 100 years. (Theoretically of course.)

Thanks. 🙂

I've been waiting on those damn crystals for a good 10 years now... saw that sh!t on the discovery channel way back when

Yeah thats what I thought. Thats a good time frame.

And the crystals are here, the companys are going to be like, "You thought we were making Blue Ray Discs, but we were making super crystals! We were going to charge a lot for blue ray, so this is going to be really expensive! Go crystals!"

"Pssst... they only cost us 10 cents to make, and we found the plans on the moon."

🙂

I too, am holding out for holographic crystals. I've resisted audio tapes, cds and dvdrs because I know those holographic crystals will just make them redundant.
