My motherboards limitations is 2 GB of memory. Does anyone foresee Crysis, and UT3 benefiting from more than 2 GB of memory?

Crysis at full detail running on Vista should suck up 2GB of ram.

Dang that sucks lol.

Guess it's about time to bury this Socket 754 platform, and move up to something that can handle more RAM. I don't care much about Crysis but I'd like to play some of the new Unreal Tournament coming out.

Even current games like Dark Messiah and BF2/2142 can eat up 2GB of RAM at 1920x1200 w/ 4x AA enabled. I'll be going to 4GB in XP in the near future (even though its only 3.25GB or w/e in XP), and definitely before going to Vista.

New games + high resolutions and image quality = say goodbye to your free RAM.

Frankly if you ran Crysis or UT2007 at high settings on 1600*1200 with 4GB I'd be surprised if you had 2GB or more free. It depends a lot on what's happening in the game too, a small corridor level in UT2007 isn't going to use as much as a huge, open map with loads of vehicles and stuff.

2GB isn't enough for me as a software developer. I'd love to get 3GB for running Parallels or VMWare in addition to my app server and IDE. Unfortunately my 1st gen MacBook Pro only supports 2GB :(

If your using that 17 inch monitor and windows xp, 2 gigs is fine.
The only thing you need is a 8800 gts 320mb(270.00$) to match up with your overclocked cpu and your good to go.

Realistically, you'll probably be good with 2GB for another year. Fortunately 2GB modules are coming down in price.

Just playing Oblivion recently, I noticed my ram usage hit 2.8gigs. I think that's the highest I have seen on my system. I only have 2gigs, so a big chunk of that was HDD usage. I think it's because I installed QTP3 and some other high-res textures recently. And I play at 1600x1200 with 4xAA 16xHQAF. I think I saw my video ram spike up to about 900megs (it's only a 512mb card). A GTX might help. But I'm gonna try and hold out for 8900 and R600 if I can.

I can't believe you guys (besides Chaotic42) are telling this guy he needs more ram!?
He has a 17 inch monitor and plays games at 1024x768. He also runs windows xp. Theres no way in hell he would need more than 2 gigs or ram.

Bradtechonline just upgrade you video card. It will play all new games just fine in 2007. I'll buy you 2 gigs of ram if i'm wrong!

In this 600s. My wife had a few tabs open in IE, and, naturally, I had Nod32, etc all running in the b/g and maybe a mail client. It would have definitely been lower had I closed a bunch of stuff down.

for your sytem, 2GB is just fine. But with Vista and some games, 4GB will be the minimum in about a year or so.

I feel 2GB will be fine for another year if using XP. I am guessing in 1 year the price of 2GB modules will be in line with 1GB/512MB/256MB modules per $/MB. I am going to hold off as long as possible for my next upgrade, but already it looks like the plans are going to be X64 Vista, 8GB Ram, Quad Core CPU. The rest is just details... :D
