How long should you wait after submitting the resume until you come to the conclusion that it?s not worth it. Especially in situations where the employer didn?t list any contact manager who you could call on the status???

depends on how badly they wanted someone. I have waited a month and half before companies have contaced me before. My rule of thumb, however, is two weeks.

Don't wait. Call them every day and DEMAND to speak to their HR dept. This will work.

It depends on the level of the position. I have sent materials off and not heard back for months. But this is phd level research stuff. Right out of college i would give it two weeks then call.

thats very very very variable.. depends on the company and their needs. our full time recruiters dont like to give out their contact info because they would be flooded with literally hundreds of emails a day. ive grabbed a bunch of resumes and never looked over them until months after. look at it from the company's perspective

I've been waiting for one particular response since 1973. Figure they are checking out by background and references real good. I'll give them 3 more years and then follow-up. ;)

Oops. I thought you were asking how long to wait after an interview for a response.

Resume responses are not guaranteed. One thing I do is that I try to tailor my resume according to the posted job requirements though do make sure that you are a match. I find that this works a lot better.
Sometimes companies can work slow in the process even if you are found to be a good match and sometimes it can be very fast if they really need someone right away. Just expect the unexpected but don't expect too much. :)

Depends. Took over 3 months to get my job last year (same as now). Recently, had a response to one in 3 days. Depends on the type of position and the company's needs.

If you submit the resume through a website, or some formal HR process, you should assume that you are never getting a response until you actually get one. They could give you a call months later, or more likely never. If you know someone on the inside that slips your resume directly onto the hiring managers desk, you can usually find out pretty quick by keeping in touch with that person.
