How long should the Q3 loop run? K7T Pro2-A q's...

Hi folks,

I just bought and installed an MSI K7T Pro2-A with an Athlon 850. It's a pretty clean install, just win98SE and Quake 3 + Team Arena to do some speed tests (waiting for my scsi drive & new video card to come in).

With a TNT2 Ultra, I set up Q3-TA to loop through it's two MPDEMO... how long should I expect my system to keep that loop going? I set timedemo to 1 and my system seems to lock up within 15 to 20 minutes.

I've also noticed while playing online a couple times that my system freezes, too...

I've got a heavy duty heatsink and fan on the athlon, plus a case fan, but that's it. Any ideas? Is this the instability that people have been talking about withthe Pro2-A? There's nothing strange about my rig... just a 3com ethernet card, a Zip 12x4x32 CD-R, and an older maxtor 4 gig drive...

Have you installed VIA's latest 4 in 1 drivers?

Nope, that's a new one to me... I'll go do that.

One thing I forgot to mention that I have a 300W power supply...

Well, I installed the latest 4 in 1 drivers from Via, plus I flashed the bios up to version 2.2. Stability seems to have improved, although now I see some occasional network flakiness... I'll be cruising along in a Q3-TA game, then after about 20 minutes I'll get a connection interrupted message, and see sporadic updates while I slowly timeout to death. I'm not sure if this is my mobo, the ethernet card (3com), or even the linksys cablemodem router I use...
