I'm about to purchase a new set of skis (downhill) for myself but am unsure how long of skis I should get. I bought my first set of skis 10 years ago before shaped skis existed. They are K2's and they are 210's (measured in centimeters, right?). I used these skis for a couple years but felt they were too long for me. When shaped skis came out, I bought a set of Voltair's which are 187's... Since then, I found that most ski rental places don't even have shaped skis this long. I'm thinking 175 or 177 should be about right for me. I rented skis at this length last year and they were much easier to control than my 187's.
I'm 6'3 and 245 lbs. I've been skiing 5 or 6 times a season for the past 5 years.
I ski twice a year in Colorado (Crested Butte) and several times a year locally on smaller slopes. When in Colorado, I've been doing mostly the mogul runs as the blue runs are no longer challenging enough. I am however still learning the art of skiing moguls...
I'm just looking for some input. I don't want to buy a set of skis that are obviously too long or too short.
I will be getting shaped skis.
