How long should my snow skis be?

I'm about to purchase a new set of skis (downhill) for myself but am unsure how long of skis I should get. I bought my first set of skis 10 years ago before shaped skis existed. They are K2's and they are 210's (measured in centimeters, right?). I used these skis for a couple years but felt they were too long for me. When shaped skis came out, I bought a set of Voltair's which are 187's... Since then, I found that most ski rental places don't even have shaped skis this long. I'm thinking 175 or 177 should be about right for me. I rented skis at this length last year and they were much easier to control than my 187's.

I'm 6'3 and 245 lbs. I've been skiing 5 or 6 times a season for the past 5 years.

I ski twice a year in Colorado (Crested Butte) and several times a year locally on smaller slopes. When in Colorado, I've been doing mostly the mogul runs as the blue runs are no longer challenging enough. I am however still learning the art of skiing moguls...

I'm just looking for some input. I don't want to buy a set of skis that are obviously too long or too short.

I will be getting shaped skis.

A lot shorter than they used to be, now they have all that cut shite, you don't need as long of a ski

go ask some guy in a ski shop maybe, eh?

your 6'3?

im 6'0 and ski on 175s shaped skies, for your height id go with 180s or 183s depending on how much SHAPE you get on them, the more shape = shorter easier to turn, better for beginners, less shape = longer, not as easy to turn, for more expirenced skiers

you could just go to a local ski place tell them what type of ski you are looking for and then will get you the right size

slalom skies are short
GS skies are longer then slalom skies
all mountian skies are in the middle w/ a different cut then a GS ski kinda the same size
Sgper G skies are long as hell
and Downhill skies are really fvcking long 200s and bigger

i remember racing on 210s before shaped skis came out and DAMN thoes fvckers are hard to turn, blisteringly fast tho
