How long should I wait for this guy to email me?

A guy is supposed to contact me (by email) today to let me know that he got the ball rolling on sending my resume to HR (for hiring). Last time I talked to him he hadn't had the time to respond to a previous email because of how busy they are right now. I assume the same thing is going on today. How long should I wait to remind him?
 
My advice would be to not remind him constantly to the point where its annoying, but there is nothing wrong with an occasional polite remider, say, every week.
 
Last time I spoke with him was Friday and he specifically said he would take care of it on Monday. I know it has only been 1 business day, but there has also been an entire weekend for him to forget 😛
