How long should I take tylenol for?

How long should I be taking tylenol for? I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow about a recurring (sinus-caused, I think?) headache, so I will for certain as him/her. It's been over a week since the headaches started and they've shown NO sign of easing up. I started taking tylenol once at night about Wednesday, but over the last couple days I've had to start taking a dose two or three times a day. How long should I be taking tylenol for, if the pain doesn't go away?

most illnesses are stress related and only in your head "figuratively"

Sinus infections can kill you though, go see a doctor

Dude. Stop with the acetaminophen and start taking aspirin or ibuprofen. Too much tylenol = liver failure.

My good friend also says:

xcessive aspirin or NSAID use can lead to gastritis. don't overuse those either.

he also says that he doesn't want you to get an ulcer, because he's been there and it's not fun.

From the one or two serious answers I got, I found some motrin/ibuprofen and I'm using that until I see the doc tomorrow.

I've had a really bad sinus infection for over a month now. I have been to the doctors three times for it and he has given me three different antibiotics. None of helped at all so far. He said if the last one he gave me didn't work, I would have to go see a specialist, which there is no way I can afford. I've been taking so much ibuprofen that it scares me.

You may be one of the people for whom acetominophen doesn't work. I'm one of those myself. Tylenol is totally worthless as a pain reliever for me...however, when combined with aspirin and caffeine (Excedrin) it seems to help...

Tell John I get a warm feeling in my pants when I think about him

My doctor put me on Amoxycillin and I was feeling better in a few days. What'd you get?

The very latest antibiotic that I was given was Avelox. The doctor said it was the best stuff he could give me without sending me to a specialist. This stuff didn't help me and I haven't gone back yet. I believe Amoxycillin was the first antibiotic they gave me that didn't work.

I am this way too. The only thing Tylenol seems good for is lowering temperature when you have a fever.

Have to be careful of taking Excedrin, Motrin, and the like for extented periods of time b/c for some it can cause a stomach bleed.

Another thing to lower risk is only take 1 pill, not 2. Most people 1 is enough but of course if you take 2 they sell more. For me 99% of the time 1 pill does what I need it to. if after a coupel hours I still feel bad i take 1 more, but that is very rare.

Tylenol doesn't have any pain relief effect for most women and for some men. The original Tylenol studies came out when women weren't included in medical studies. Then, Tylenol was thought to be great for everyone. But in the last decade several new studies show it has very little pain relief on women. You are correct though, it will lower temperature if needed. It works quite well for me for both purposes.

As others have said, be careful with Tylenol. The effective dose is quite close to the lethal dose. You can double up on Advil or aspirin, but NOT Tylenol. Many people don't realize that.
