how long is the ipod mini battery suppose to last?

doubt the battery lasts 18...

EDIT:NVM i guess the 2nd getn mini's last 18 hours, dont know about the 1st gen though
 
Not to highjack the thread, but what is the difference between the 30 GB and the discontinued 40 GB iPods other than the space?

Their "generation"... which is like saying the difference between years of cars. You may have 2 Nissan maximas, but they aren't the same car and don't take the same parts unless they were released in the same generation (to put it generically.).

Things that change between generations:
-looks
-button functionality
-button usability
-User Interface
-internal component specifications
-firmware
-everything?

Yeah, but I'm talking about the iPod+Photo, which isn't that old. So they aren't that much different. Are they?

AFAIK, iPod's have always had pretty underperforming battery life. The first gen iPods that came out had ~8 hours of battery life. I think iPod's these days have around 12. Claims of 15+ hours of battery life is absurd.
