If we knew exactly how long a video card would last dont you think we would share that answer

I would say that a 7800GT should last at the very least 2 years.

Nothing stays high-end for 3 years in the PC world. If you want max performance, you'll have to upgrade every other cycle.

The life of the card should last about 7 years...

However, value is subjective. If you can stand playing next-gen games at lower settings, it'll last you quite a few years, maybe up to even 3 or 4 if you stretch it. Usually change rate it seems is about 2 years, 1 if you have to have the best.

Simply buy the mid-range card (its cheaper and has a better price/performance) more often than the high end card. Turn down the graphics and you're ready to go.

Ummm NO. SLIed 7800GTX's can barely put the framerate above 20fps when running max everything at 19x12.

Up to 16x12 maybe 2 years, 19x12 maybe a year.

not with 4x AA and 16x AF..., a single 7800 gt is barely running FEAR at 1600x1200 on 4x aa and afs, once Unreal 3 engine based games comes out, the 7800 gt will be almost obsolete.
