Well, we had a huge ice storm earlier this month and we didn't have electricity for two weeks; we had electricity, but not for computers. So, my computer has been on since Wednesday. Before the ice storm, my computer hadn't been rebooted for close to eight months. Ahh, Win2k is great!

i turn mine off everynight too... and only turn it on when im about to use it.. then leave it on for the rest of the day til i go to sleep, and turn it off again... i mean, its got a 300W powersupply, thats = to about 4 lightbulbs... approximately.... so why not turn it off, only takes a min to turn it back on.. if im downloading something thats a few hundred megs or something ill leave it up, but thats rare... win2k

Wtf is the point in saying how long your machine has been on? With an operating system like Win2K, it doesn't matter anymore. You can leave it on for ages without any problems, so saying your comp was on for x hours or days or years, literally means nothing. And if it isn't stable, then it's a hardware or hardware configuration problem.

112 on my win2k fileserver at work, before i SP2'd it
88 on one of my webservers (still going)
34 on my gateway/router/webserver here at home, but that goes down tonight for a hard drive swap.

pretty much the only thing that takes my machines down now, is If i have to move it, or i have to change hardware.

The power's been on for about 2 months, but I have to reboot every now and then when a really badly written program (EZ CD Creator, anyone?) will start to take down the system for good. I use Win2K. Last time I had to power down completely was when the rubber bands I was using to hold a 80mm fan on my heatsink broke from getting old and brittle. That was exciting. SNAP! CLUNK! GRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND!. Luckily it didn't damage anything.

My linux router at home had been on a couple months before I turned it off to move it. An old computer I used at school was on (no reboots) for about 3-4 months. Not bad for NT4.
