I don't think so...must have had to copyright it so they can control the whole 'google for this answer' fiasco!

I think it's been there for a while...I seriously did not notice it until tonight when you pointed it out. Some of those screenshots have been there for a while it seems, so it's been there all along, just unnoticed.

Little known fact: the TM symbol means very little. All it means is that the company is attempting to scare others away from using the term but the company has little legal standing. The (R) stands for a registered trademark. This means the company (1) paid the minimal governmental fee, (2) has been approved for sole use of the name in that type of business, and (3) has survived a mandatory waiting period where other companies can challenge the use of that name.

So Google TM is nearly meaningless, but Google (R) would be much better.
