How long has "SQL Server" been a programming language?

SQL is a language. SQL Server is not. I know that Microsoft has bastardized the language to fit in Server, but it still ain't a language.

from here:

Computer Programming Skills
Understanding how to harness a computer's power and program it to meet the specific needs of a particular company can dramatically increase your employment opportunities. Specific languages most in demand today include C++, Java, HTML, Visual Basic, Unix and SQL Server.

That's a problem with the ad.

Microsoft's SQL Server has its own SQL syntax just as Oracle has its own, MySQL has its own, etc.

Besides, Unix isn't a language either now is it?

Sure. There's a boatload of VB development out there. That's what's put food on my plate for the past several years.

I concur with conjur.

VB is extremeley versatile in interfacing multiple databases. Also very easy to make splash screens for other programs or input forms for simple tasks.
