How long for skyrim forts to repopulate?

So there are some forts that I traversed a long time ago, when I was ten levels lower. Im going back into the ones that were challenging to get my destruction up but all the ruins/forts that I go to are barren, except for the dead bodies and weapons of the ones that I slaughtered before. Even down in blackreach, the wilderness area is still teeming with annoying things to ignite but none of the ruins have anything living in them. In oblivion it used to be 3 days for a cell to refresh, its been much longer than that and there is noone. How long until people come back to the ruins/forts.

There are three different schedules that can be used for respawning a game location:
Never. Some dungeons are flagged as "Never Resets", which means that no matter how long you wait the contents are never altered. All containers in such locations are safe for long-term storage. This setting only applies to interior areas; any exterior areas associated with a never-respawning dungeon will respawn after 10 days. Examples of the areas that don't respawn are the houses that you can buy.
10 days (240 hours). This is the default time period used before a dungeon or any other game location respawns.
30 days (720 hours). This is the time period used if a dungeon has been cleared.
For any area to respawn, you must not enter the area during the specified time period. Each time you enter the area, the respawn clock is reset. Conversely, you can intentionally re-enter an area frequently to prevent storage containers from resetting (although you run the risk of losing everything if you forget to return in time).

Thanks for the info, I dont suppose you know of any way to change the default scheduling to 3 days. Or any mods that do that.

We really need a dedicated help thread.

TWO MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED!

1. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim
You need to use the search box to find most of what you want, but EVERYTHING about Skyrim is on that site somewhere.

2. skyrim.NexusMods.com
First get the mod manager, then get the script extender. You NEED both of those, trust me. Also, sign up for a free account, it makes searching easier. A paid account really doesnt get you shit.
