Man.. this is bugging me big time... I WANT An AtI all-in-wonder that can do DUAL MONITOR....

I'm running an older AIW 7500 and and radeon 32mb PCI card for my two monitors.. but it sucks.. anyone have any idea if ATI is planning on making such a card?.. I am constantly using my TV and VIVO features of my AIW, and i want to upgrade to something like an AIW 9800, but It won't do dual monitors.. I don't want to spend all the money to upgrade now, if they're just going to come out with a dual-capabale one soon.

I'm having problems playing DVD's on my system, actually, every time I try to play any kind of MPEG2 file, my system totally locks up, hard. I assume this is some sort of conflict between the hardware mpeg2 decoding onboard the two different cards. ATI won't offer me any advice.. all they say is that they 'don't recomened using two of their cards in this manner' (ie. for dual monitor)...

i duno.. anyone have any thoughts?

You can see in this pic there is no room left on the backplate for another vga connection.

agreed... looking at the dual head video cards today they are cramped as it is. I don't know how they'd fit anything else in there without taking away another.

they could use a break-out box, or take up the first PCI slot or a built in, 'two seperate cable' wires coming out of the back of the card.
I doubt that space is a MAJOR reason why they haven't made one yet. I'm sure it is POSSIBLE to make such a card w/ present technology.

But is it worth the price to design and manufacture it? Doubtful, as not that many are in that market.

Sure it is, the AIW already has dual internal RAMDAC, adding another TMDS transmitter wouldn't be a big deal and it could use a backplate like the FireGL or a DVI splitter like parnhelia (I've seen an article that it can work with the present AIW using a DVI spltter giving you DVD-D + VGA from the DVI-I port actually, I posted it here, so do a search). I know a few HTPC folks that would like to use their LCD monitor plus another HDCP DVI connection for their projector or other digital display, and I could use dual VGA right now since I hook my widescreen using VGA, and would like to use my CRT at the same time.

I did recently hear that ATI will be introducing a dual monitor AIW with the next revision (AIW r420?) Hope so.

I'm sure there is a LARGE market for this sort of a card. With the lack of dual-DVI cards right now, i think many people would buy an AIW w/dual DVI. Most people running dual monitors do video editing and multimedia work, they would probaly get great benefit out of the VI/VO and TV features. Seriously, alot of guys w/ dual monitors just wana watch TV while typing a word document on the other screen.

Next revision eh? hmmm.. any idea when that will come out?
