How long does your laptop battery last?

Looking into getting a laptop, and I need one with long battery life this should help

Please also list your brand and lasting time in the post😉

I've got a dell Inspiron 8100 with dual batteries. With both batteries, it normaly lasts around 5 hours if I'm just programming or using word. It dives down to 3:00 if I'm playing a game or watching a DVD. With one battery, its normaly 2.5 hours, and 1.5 for a game/DVD

Sorry, forgot to post this 🙂 Its a P3 866-M (runs at 667mhz on battery) with 256MB of ram, GeForce2 Go 32MB DDR, 8X DVD-ROM drive, 15" SXGA+ TFT LCD, built in 10/100 Ethernet and 56k modem, 20GB hard drive running windows XP Profesional.

3 hours and change. I don't stress the machine when it's on battery though. I'm guessing that it would drop to about 2 hours if I was playing a DVD.

Specs:
IBM ThinkPad A21p
P-III 850 (700 on battery)
ATI Mobility 128 (Rage 128 Pro-based, shuts down 3D accel. when on battery)
32 GB HDD
256 MB RAM
8x DVD or 8x4x24 CD-RW (depends on which is swapped in at the moment)
3Com Mini-PCI (aka "buit in") NIC/Modem
15" UXGA (1600x1200) display (usually dimmed fully on battery)
Windows XP Pro

bthorny - Get the Dell Inspiron 4100 with 2 59 WHr batteries, should last at least 3 hours easily.

If you want the ultimate in battery life get an iBook, but that's a whole other OS.

3hrs per batteries on my Dell Inspiron 8100, so almost 6hrs when I have two batteries in there. That's on SpeedStep mode. If I were to watch a DVD, then it'd be cut down to around 3hrs normally.

Compaq Presario 1722 CA
P3 1000 M
512 Mb Ram
8mb Mobility Radeon
14" tft
dvd/cdrw
Orinoco wireless pc card

On avg about 3 hours. It really just depends on what your doing. If you really want extra battery life, get a 2nd battery, but than I'd also recommend not going over 14" screen or else you'll be caring around a ton of weight.

How soon are you looking to buy a laptop? I just configured this awesome Dell Inspiron 4100 for a great price.

Save $79 by getting a CD-ROM instead of DVD, but it would be nice to watch DVD movies and games/software for only $79 so I'd get it. The nice thing about this configuration is you're getting TWO 59 WHr batteries.

I get about 5-6 hours with Internet/word processing/wireless all running.

Check out my laptop in my sig, I replaced the normal battery with the extended battery.
