How long does someone have when cancer spreads from the lungs?

I was just informed that my grandmother's cancer in her lungs may have spread. She was going to chemotherapy and I'm pretty sure it stopped the cancer or just stopped it from growing, I believe it was dorment.

Anyways, my mom just called crying on the phone telling me that her cancer may have spread. How long does one usually have to live once it starts spreading? Is there any hope through any means of medicine?

PS, if you guys who do believein prayer, could say a little prayer for my grandmother, I'd truly appreciate it.

all my relatives died of lung cancer. It can take a while but she's pretty much gonna be a gonner in less than a year.

I support you but religion sucks ergo no prayer.

i dont know how long it takes to die, but the chances of beating it after it spreads are under like 10%.

my grandmother died of lung cancer that spread to her brain.

in the end she forgot names, didnt know who anyone was, and other such happenings. it was sad to see.

while the death of anyone is sad, i wasnt particularly fond of her, so her death didnt affect me much.

when my other grandmother dies... that'll be a sad sad day for me 🙁 🙁

She is my mom's mother and she means a lot to my mother even though they don't get along too well. My mom lives in another state so it's hard for her to visit her. She's also having trouble with my step-father who is a recovering alcoholic, but often times resorts back to his old ways. Man, life is tough and when you think it can't get any tougher, it gets even tougher.

Thanks for the well wishes. I just hate it when anyone passes. I hope she has at least a year or two more left in her. She's kinda young.
