How long does Memtest86 usually take?

Now I know that the duration of the test depends on your amount of memory and your CPU speed, but I ran it over night and it wasn't done. I have an Athlon 64 3200+ Clawhammer and 2x512 of OCZ PC3500. Does anyone have a similar setup, and if so; how long did it take?

Another question. To test stability I simply increase FSB, HTT, to my desired speed, the amount of voltage and my desired ram ratio, correct? Will my cpu affect the test; like being on stock voltage at 2.3, which might not be stable.

Thx in advance,

Adnan

But the website had an example that lasted 3 hours. What exactly am I looking for. Even after I ran it for 12 hours i failed prime95. Running prime right after memtest results in a failure after 1 second.

i run memtest overnight than prime95 the next night

if your passing memtest and failing prime95 than u need more chip voltage or you need better cooling. Or your chip cant handle anymore speed.

When you run memtest, you want to have no errors at all. If there are errors, you need to reduce the memory frequency, or relax its timings or increase its voltage (all in small increments or decrements).

After you can run memetest overnight with no errors, you run prime95. You want to run it overnight with no errors. If there are errors, you need to reduce the CPU frequency or improve its cooling or increase its voltage (in small increments).

The CPU does affect the memtest as well. That is why you should do the overclocking in small increments gradually.
