if it's been a week, does that mean they're probably not gonna call after reviewing my resume?

Much depends on the size of the company and where it is sent.
I have had followups 2-3 months (way to late) from some larger organizations.

Did you just send it in blind or have you followed up and found people there to network?

Depends on the type of organization. I applied for a job back in August of '05 and got a call back 8 months later (which was just a couple days ago). This was a large bureaucratically-organized place.

If you live in the San Jose, CA area and have a network engineering background, I would respond to your resume right away if I liked what I saw. We're hiring.

I was notified of an opening position for some company by my college's career services through email. They just gave an email address to send our resumes to and that's it. I'm assuming (or hoping) they did receive quite a few and are taking a while to reviewing all resumes.
