How long does it take Windows to install?

While trying to install windows 7 oem home prem on a new build, after the "Windows is loading files..." screen, the computer just sits there. I am installing it on an old 250Gig IDE drive. Not sure if it just isn't working or if it's just taking a long time. I just get a black screen with the "Starting Windows" words. Nothing else.

Any ideas? Please help!

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3
RAM: (2) 2Gig G skills DDR3 1600

you may have some kind of hardware issue. The loading can take a while though in my experience. I just did a new install a few days ago but the total time was only about 30 minutes. I'd give it an hour to see if it progresses...

That motherboard uses a third-party chip for IDE support, so you may need to do some BIOS reconfiguration to ensure it's enabled.

Check the memory. That is the source of many install problems. Also, make sure the BIOS date is set correctly (although I don't think that is the problem.)
