How long does it take to run 3DMark2001 SE? Mine taking too long?

is there something wrong with my second system?

System 1: (3DMark2001 SE score ~12000)
Epox 8RDA+
Athlon 1700+ @ 2200 MHz (183x12)
SLK-800A with Panaflo L1A
Kingston HyperX PC3000 512MB
PNY Verto Ti4200 8x 64MB
Maxtor 8MB 80GB
Lite-On 48x24x48
Antec True430 PSU

System 2: (3DMark2001 SE score ~9000)
Asus P4PE with the works (not the Gigabit LAN version, though)
P4 1.6a @ 2.4 GHz (150x16)
Kingston HyperX PC3000 512MB
Gainward Ti4200 4x 64MB
Seagate Barracuda V 2MB 120GB
Lite-On 48x24x48
Seasonic 300W PSU

if i use the default settings of 17/21 tests for 3DMark2001 SE, the first system only takes 8 minutes to complete it.
the second system, on the otherhand, takes ONE HOUR and ONE MINUTE to complete.

why the heck is the second system so much slower? also, whats up with the 3000 score difference? shouldnt they be relatively close?

Not sure why the speed discrepancy (the 8mb cache doesn't explain it - could be drivers and such) but I must say that the 12000 seems very good indeed...my wife's system:

ECS k7s5a
1gb PC2700 crucial
1700+ @ stock 1.47
Radeon 9700 non-pro
20gb 7200rpm maxtor

10,300 3dmarks...gratz on beating that system by ~2k. :frown:

As to why it takes so long...no answer again. But I would draw a line between the cause of the one and the cause of the other
