How long does it take to digest your food?

Thanks to the wonders of corn tracer technology, I can tell you that it takes 10 1/2 hours!

What do you consider digestion? When the food passes from the stomach to the small intestine? Further on when most of the nutrients have been absorbed and it moves towards the colon? For certain foods, digestion actually begins in the mouth via saliva.

Food begins to be digested at the moment of ingestion as chewing is step one and saliva contains enzymes that breaks down carbs. The process in its entirety is not complete until the waste products are let go.

That being said I think for me it is like 10 minutes. LOL. I have IBS :(
