I have a Pace HD PVR and it takes about 8 minutes to boot. I have to hard boot it about once a month, as it seems to loose its' ability to display the channel guide and the only way to fix it is to unplug it and then plug it back in.

About 15 seconds. But I did get rid of my cable box and replaced it with a HTPC with an SSD. Best things I've done HT wise. Works 10x better and costs $2.50 a month for a cable card rather than $40+ for two DVR's.

You guys got it good. If power goes out for a few seconds at my cable company on a weekend or after office hours, I usually don't have cable for several hours. Evidently, they don't have any kind of backup power and no one is there to reset it.

Ours is an HTPC running Media Center, boots pretty quick ;)

Having a UPS on everything around the house help too. Power will go out, but the server, cable modem, router, switch and HDHR tuner in the basement stay up, the TV, XBOX, HTPC, Verizon Network Extender, switch in the living room stay up, my desktop keeps running, pretty much all the electronics are backed up. Power has to be out for quite a while to run the UPS units down.

What is company?

The best way to reboot a dct is to unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Channels will appear within 2 minutes, guide in about a half hour.

When I had a cable box it took almost 10 min.
Since I only have basic service now there isn't a need for a box so I sent it packing back to them.

My TWC box blows. The other day it locked up and I had to unplug the damn thing to reboot it. At least 15-20 minutes before any audio/video.

Like 5 minutes. Thank goodness it never really turns off: power consumption difference between "on" and "off" is like 2 W (14W vs. 16W?).
