How long does it take for a CPU to cool down?

I was wondering how long it takes for the CPU to cool down before i can change the HSF on it. I'm using a P3-650E with the retail HSF, so I i shut down my comp now, how long till i can put my FOP32 on?

Thanks,
Tim

interesting question! the p3s don't generally get very warm so I would just shut down the pc,remove the cpu & change the hsf right away!😀

the time ti takes to shut-down, then to pull hte heatsink off, a p3 is more than cool enough to change heatsinks. Actual core temps drop and change fairly quickly.

less than a minute, pretty much from the moment you power down, your heatsink that's on your P3 will take almost ALL the heat out rite away, I would worry about static and residual charge more than heat if I were u.
