How long does cereal last? Found an old box of...

I was cleaning out my cubicle here at work, and came across a nearly-full box of Honey Bunches of Oats. The "Best Used By" date reads June 2003, but it isn't moldy, there are no signs of bugs, and the cereal looks okay. Do you think it'd be safe to eat?

I ate a piece, and other than being a little stale, it seems okay.

Cereal NEVER goes bad 😉
Cereal's water activity is low enough that no microorganisms will grow. That includes mold. The biggest problem would be moisture migration from environment to product.

eh why would you eat a box of stale cereal when you can buy a box for 4 bucks

damn cheapass asians

A penny saved... 😎
Is a penny that somebody else is supposed to find.

Dirty scrooge. :|

😛 🙂

I've done that before, and lived, so go for it. Then again, I've got an iron stomach. However, I prefer it crunchy, and not chewy. I'm lactose intolerant, so I can't drown it in milk and hide the staleness.
