How Long Does Apple Pie Last?

Crab cake

I picked-up an apple pie my mom made for me on Sunday night. She told me not to refrigerate it because the crust will get "doughy". I just cut myself a slice and the whole thing is breaking apart. Has it gone bad?Text

I picked up an apple pie from a grocery store and ate half of it, 6 months later I found the other half in the back of the fridge. It still looked fresh!

mmmmm. looks good to me. heat it up in the microwave and put some vanilla icecream on it.

How does it taste?

Desserts last longer than most foods, because the extra sugar creates a hypertonic environment, making it difficult for bacteria to grow.

Looks about right to me. A lot of apple pies fall apart like that, especially the ones with the crumb topping.

i think you are fine.

typically the human tastebud is good enough to distinguish if something has gone bad or not.

Its rare that something has gone bad but does not taste bad.

It tasted very good. Thank you all. It's the type of crust that makes it crumbly like that, not because it has gone bad.
