If by Work Cycle you mean 'Work Unit', the time taken depends on several different things, mainly what project you're doing and what CPU type and speed. Also, heavy usage and the version of the client software can make a difference...

Give us a little more detail (What CPU, what project, what OS, what client version) and we should be able to give you a good estimate.

I just signed up to help out team AT in SETI. I've got a 1ghz T-Bird, Win2K Pro and I set the SETI deal to run all the time. Not just during my screensaver.

Somebody will provide a link to the speed page, but that is a great machine for Seti. I would think that 3-4 WU's a day would be in order!

AMDPwred, if you want to max out your AMDPwr, you should consider switching to the CLI client. WU times usually improves by as much as 30%.

If you run a 1GHz 24/7, you should have at least 4 WU/day. Provided you run the CLI text client.

Probably around that 3.5 mark depending on whatever else might be taking up processing power. Seti concedes resources to just about everything else so that it doesn't hinder the user in the primary purposes of the machine.

Yeah I've noticed it doesn't slow down my system at all. I guess the 512MB of RAM helps

The GUI version is the one with the pretty colours and wavy lines on the screen. The client version runs more or less invisibly (icon in the systray unless you want to bring up more detail).

To run the CLI it is best to remove the GUI and then install the CLI and SETI driver in the same folder. SETI driver then runs the client for you. Installing SetiSpy in there as well allows you to access lots of cool info such as star charts as well.
