How long does a "Virus - Cold" last?

I have a virus. No not computer virus, but virus cold virus. I threw up like twice last night. I had the meanest case of diahrea (sp?). Anyways, I caught it from my son. He threw up a little also, but he hasn't since yesterday. His lasted about two days. I was wondering how long mines should last? I don't feel to good right about now. Headache, and bodyache. Also had the feeling of almost throwing up. I didn't eat anything this whole day except for drinking water. My plan is just to keep chugging down all that water so that I can clean out my system. Any doctors here? Let me know, thanks!

yours should last for a shorter amount of time than your sons since ur older and should have more antibodies in u.

Doesn't sound like a cold, possibly the flu or some other sort of nasty virus. Drink lots of liquids, make suer you get vitamin C, rest up, and you'll be fine in no time.

a virus lasts as long as it takes for your body to make a cure for it...

I'll have to agree with Azraele here as it sounds more than just a common cold. suggest you keep yourself hydrated & use regular paracetamol for control of the aches & temperature!

1. Take fluids
2. Steam (boil water, put it in a bowl, and drape a towel of you and the bowl and breathe deeply) - this loosens up the mucas membranes, and will get it all out b4 it goes down your throat and makes it sore, and in your lungs
3. drink tea- I drink tea all the time, but it feels good when you're sick... I recommend a Lapsang Souchsang
4. take medicine, or drink luqouer...your choice hehe...I reccomend a single malt scotch, or some good irish whiskey

5. cough up all the crap in your lungs
6. gargle with salt water and hydrogen peroxide

The average "Cold" lasts seven day, I think. That doesn't necessarily mean that you will feel like total crap the whole 7 days. It just takes the cold virus about seven days to run its course.
