How long does a thread have to be before you just post to it without reading all the way through it?

99.99% of the time, if there are more than 50 posts, I won't ever open the thread. Thus I almost always read the whole thread.

In the very rare cases I do open a thread that long, I try to read them all. But if I just don't have time and the answer is needed quickly, I'll say in my post that I didn't read the thread.

And your poll is useless since everyone can change the number of posts per page. Thus, you really should go by number of posts and not the number of pages.
 
I usually read the first 5-6 pages of any given thread. If it's interesting, I might actually read the whole thing before posting. If I see a particular post I feel like commenting on, I'll open a Reply box but won't actually submit it until I read some more.

Maybe, but how many people DO?

On other forums (Futuremark springs to mind), you pretty much HAVE to...but AT seems to have a fairly reasonable default value for that.

Create another poll. I was under the impression that a slight majority had changed them, but maybe that number has changed as AT changed over the years.
 
honestly, i couldnt even get through your whole title... i just read the first few words and assumed the rest

reading doesn't up your post count, ya know?
 
longer than 1 page and i'll just skim through the posts

if the thread is longer than 5 pages or so, i don't post in it at all b/c whatever i say has probably been said and will get buried when the thread goes longer.

If a thread has more than 100 posts or whatever I don't feel like catching up on, I won't even open it. However, if it keeps coming up I will eventually open it and see what the poster is talking about. But I'll skip 90% of the other posts.
