How long does a papaya take to ripen?

I bought a papaya out of the blue on saturday and was told by my friend to let it sit out on my counter for 3-5 days. I read on the internet that it should get kind of soft and have about a 70% yellow to green ratio. Just wondering what yall know about it.

Also, should I put it in the fridge for a little while (about 8 hours) after it ripens? I like my fruit to be cold.

You got the right info.

I hate papaya cold, but that's just me.

it sort of depends on if you get a good one, and how ripe it is. it should be sweet, but perhaps not as sweet as a mango.

The inside reminds me of a vagina, for some reason.
