How long does a clutch last when it starts slipping?

Only ask because my clutch in the 90' Nissan Stanza is slipping when you apply moderate throttle durring acceleration. I need it to last about 45days tops! Just enough to get my show car out of winter storage :). Then I can take my time and replace the clutch.

Anyone with experiance: How long does it last?

I have taken some steps to help it out. Baby the throttle, shift at higher RPM's, no downshifting... Seems to work fine, you still get an occational slip here and there going up hills.

Thanks!

Its already done.

It took me and two other friends over 14 hours to go from northern ca to los angeles when I was 18. That damn clutch started slipping on the first hill and we were not about to turn around. Man was that a great roadtrip though...

i've heard that once you get noticeable slippage, it lasts about a week or so depending on how you drive... but then again, i think it differs from car to car, so don't take my word on it...

My 84 accord lasted about 2 weeks after it started dying. Then one day I couldnt go faster than 35, no matter what gear/rpm. Then, at a traffic light, she died. :(

You should be able to get some decent use out of it as long as you baby it like you said. I was borrowing somebody's corolla at Xmas and I wanted to powershift from first to second for fun and realized that the clutch was in a bad state (it had no chance in hell of chirping into 2nd), but you could only tell under moderate to heavy throttle and I think they managed to wait a while before replacing it.

I tried to pull up info on your car, don't have the right disc...have you check to see if it an adjustable clutch?
You might be able to stop the slipping completely. If its a mechanical linkage like a cable it usually adjustable at
the transmission end...hydraulic you're probably SOL.
Either way, baby the hell out of it and you'll probably make it.

Good luck!

Hmm... that's a good idea. I will have to jack it up after school tomorrow and check. I would be willing to bet it's a cable.

Very good idea... ;)
