How long do you use your gilette fusion blades for?

I use the cartridges for 4-5 shaves and then trash them. It is a much cleaner and smoother shave, and is also much less rough on your skin. The few extra dollars is worth it for my face not to look like hide.

Probably 8-12 shaves per blade, although I really should take MrDudeMan's advice and trash them sooner.

is that the razor blade that has Tiger Woods, Roger Federer & Thierry Henry(?) pimping them out?

i cant imagine them sellling enough razors to warrant paying those three guys.

I guess for Gilette's sake, you should only use them once.

I used to go 8-12, but the sharpness tapers off really fast after 4-5 (imo) and it simply feels better to me if I get a new one after that many shaves. Maybe your face is different, but I can certainly feel the difference for the rest of the day between a blade that has been used 4 times versus 10 times. I use aftershave and shave in the shower, but my face will still get a faint but itchy rash if the blade is somewhat dull. It's really irritating (not itchy - I mean it's annoying) so using the blades less is worth it to me.

It used to be one because my father could get blades for cheap/free. 😛 (In all reality it was 8-12, but I still got em free).

Now it's back to 8-12 since my dad was let go by Gillette and I'm a college student.

They are expensive so I use them until I can feel them ripping the hair out one-by-one. It would probably make more sense to use a cheaper razor and replace it more often, but I often do things that don't make sense.

About three months... I shave 2-3 times per week.

They last alot longer than most people think. You will know its time to trash it when it starts to irritate your skin.

BTW I shave in the shower, after at least ten minutes of showering. I also wash my face right before shaving. The combination of the ten minute steam and the aloe in the face wash really softens the bristles and makes for an easy shave, which probably allows me to use the cartrdiges longer.

instead of spending money on new blades, I spend it on the nicer shaving cremes
that stuff makes a HUUUUUUUUGGE difference

No more than 10 shaves, usually about two weeks per cartridge. Anymore than that and I start to get an annoying as hell stubble/bump rash during the afternoon.

Probably 2 months or less. I shave 5 days/week. You can go longer, just take care of the blade and rinse after every stroke. You'll know when it's worn out.

What type of shaving cream do you use

This is the one I am using right now
Kiehl's Brand

But any of those tub-filled, expensives cremes should do the trick.
It really makes your hair come off like hot butter off a knife.

20 shaves. The average shaver holds on to them for 16 shaves. Someone with a thick beard (Italian, greek, etc) will destroy the cartridge after 1-2 shaves. It is amazing how much mechanical damage hair from those people can do to the blade edge. Thing looks like a saw tooth design under the optical microscope :eek;

Darn, I can use a single blade disposable for a couple months (I dont, but when I was poor yada yada) I have a beard but for whatever reason the hair on my face is very easy to cut. Ive never actually had to throw a razor away because it was dull. i just do do out of hygienes sake.
So for me, about every two weeks.

You must have a great deal of disposable income to pay 32 dollars for shaving cream. I just go with the 96 cent cans.

holy crap you guys change them way too often. I use Gilette Gel shaving cream and the m3 razor and change it once a month if i feel good that day. And i shave every day sometimes twice. I never have razor burn or anything.

Well if I get more than a day or two on my face it will really tear up the blade, so shaving more often and really working the shaving cream into the hairs, rinsing every stroke = blades last a long time.

Four shaves for me. I'm out and using cheapies right now, there is a huge difference in comfort and closeness guys. It's not hype. 🙁

I have to remember the name of the site, i think there's several doing it now, but they sell blades and other things dipped in liquid nitrogen. It hardens the blades and they last for much longer. So the rumor goes all of the blades you get when you buy the razor itself are dipped in liquid nitrogen by the manufacturer to give you the initial impression that the blades last longer. They sell golf balls too...illegal for play but no one can tell. Come to think of it, I have one spare blade left and need to order.
