How long do you think SETI will last?

The stage we're in right now that is

I'm thinking it won't be more than 6 months more, or if anything maybe a month or two more to let any cached WU's come back

im not convinced that its going to be before the end of 2004. SETI I was supposed to die out long ago but progress has been slower than me trying to read a book with no pictures 🙁

Sure we may be a little let down because we anticipated a big build up to the end but this is still a fun project to run. We may as well keep going full steam ahead, just like we would if there was no BOINC.

I guess we've been hearing for almost a year now that SETI will end soon adn that BOINC is getting better and better ... but still there's just an unstable beta release of BOINC AFAIK, and when I tested the alpha one with Astropulse, it scared me very much, how they deal with your settings and stuff. I guess that SETI I will last till 2005 at least and that we get the chance to make MANY more milestones 😉

Well seti@home should originally have ended in May 2001. 😉

As for when BOINC is released, no idea, but according to the taskbase it currently looks to be 2 linux, 1 mac & 1 BOINC M1-high/critical bugs on the client side, and 3 server-side. The seti-application on the other hand is unknown how many bugs, but still some crashes in selected wu...

Last thread we had asking this I guessed mid May (date of the 5yr anniversary) ,back then I thought that date might be too far ,but its unlikely to change by then !

I doubt it'll be as long as 6mths though😉
