Got a little overzealous eating some excellent lasagna and ravioli last night and bit a nice chunk of my tongue.

It bled for about 20 minutes, then swelled up a bit.

It hurts a little now, nothing major, but its just annoyingly large right now with a big bump. How long does it take to heal?

Depends on the person. Some people will heal in a day or two. In my case, any mild abrasion in my mouth turns into an open sore that lasts about 2 weeks.

IIRC, on average, the tongue heals faster than any other part of the body. I guess time to heal would be dependent on the extent of the injury. And not re-injuring yourself at every meal which can be a problem if it starts to swell.

All I know is the tongue is the fastest healing organ in the body.

Thank goodness you weren't eating another body part of yours. That would just be creepy.

I recommend walking around with your tongue sticking out for at least two weeks. Oh, and pics please.
